Topic:

The Future of Ambulance Detection: Towards Safer Roads and Smarter Travel

In urban traffic, detecting an approaching ambulance is often left to the driver’s ability to hear sirens—an unreliable method in noisy, congested environments. For something as critical as clearing the path for emergency vehicles, this is not enough.
This presentation explores how Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) communication can give drivers early, accurate awareness of approaching ambulances by transmitting real-time location data. We will discuss the challenges of reliable communication, vehicle positioning, and how to present this information visually in a way that drivers can act on instinctively.

Biography:

Nicolás Corsini is a graduate student in Computer Science at the Illinois Institute of Technology and holds a degree in Telecommunications Engineering from Universidad Pontificia de Comillas ICAI. With a strong background in software development, AI, and vehicular communication systems, he combines technical expertise with a passion for solving real-world problems. Outside of tech, Nicolás enjoys music, skiing, and exploring how innovation can make cities safer and smarter.
